KW United FC (9-4-1) vs. Thunder Bay Chill (9-3-2)

The stage is set. K-W United is facing off against the Thunder Bay Chill in the first semifinal matchup in the Central Conference. K-W United is coming off a 2-1 victory against the Dayton Dutch Lions to close out the season, while the Chill is on a two-game winning stream, capped off with a 4-0 victory against the St. Louis Lions.  The winner of this series plays against the winner of the Michigan Bucks and Des Moines Menace semifinal matchup. Kickoff is at 5p.m. on Friday, July 21, in Michigan.

K-W United captured second place in the Great Lakes division after a phenomenal season performance, with their only losses coming from the Michigan Bucks and the Cincinnati Dutch Lions.  Finishing the season with a 9-4-1 overall record, KW United FC is primed to make a deep playoff run. Wesley Cain finished the season on a high note with a goal and an assist in K-W United’s last matchup this season, with goalkeeper Jared Brown picking up the victory. The Thunder Bay Chill had a strong season this year, finishing with an overall record of 9-3-2, capturing first place in the Heartland Division. The club finished with 25 goals scored and 23 assists this season. The scoring trio of Adam Abdellaoui, Brandon Swartzendruber, and Abraham Villon made up the Chill offence, combining for 13 goals and eight helpers this season. Thunder Bay’s starting goalkeeper David Elias finished the season with an 0.860 save percentage and a stellar 0.58 goals against average over 13 games. Primed with tons of playoff experience, and qualified for the playoffs for 11 of the last 12 seasons, the Chill will be a formidable opponent coming into the Central Conference semifinals.
